Hunab-ku Magik Mix Contest: The Winning Mix
Behold, the winner of the Hunab-ku Magik Mix Contest:
Entry #9: Djuna – Hunab-ku Contest Mix #9
Before talking about the winning mix, let me first say a huge thank you to all of the DJs who submitted mixes for this contest. Thanks to their hard work and love of this music, we’ve all been able to experience a very healthy dose of mid- to late-nineties Goa trance assembled together in some wicked mixes. Bravo to all of you who submitted, not just the winner! Read more

Entry #14: DJ Draeke – Mentalism
The fourteenth – and final – entry into the Hunab-ku Magik Mix Contest is a mix by DAT Records label owner, Draeke. The caboose on this Crazy Train is a mix packed with some wicked old-school Goa, most of which is from very rare pieces of vinyl. Read more

Entry #13: Venohm – Freaks Coming Back To Calangute
Lucky #13 is a mix from Venohm. The stats appear below, but sadly he’s requested that his mix remain private, restricting its dissemination further unless he wins the contest. (EDIT: Venohm has authorized posting of the mix! Woohoo!) Read more

Entry #12: Jim Appleton – Spiritual Psychedelia
This entry into the Hunab-ku Magik Mix Contest is a phenomenal, mostly-vinyl mix dropping some of the best old-school Goa you can find. I know I’ve said “phenomenal” a few times already during this contest, but really, this one rocks. Read more

Entry #11: The Tree Tribe – From Disco Valley To Eternity
The next entry into the Hunab-ku Magik Mix Contest is a very solidly-mixed trip back to the beaches of Goa by someone who was actually there. Read more

Entry #9: Djuna – Hunab-ku Contest Mix #9
OK, kids – this one will put hair on your chest. Yes, even you girls. Coming straight from a carnival on the funny farm, Djuna’s put together what starts out as one of the most twisted sets of old-school psytrance I think I’ve had the pleasure of being assaulted with, and somehow turns it around by the end of the mix so you’re basking in the beauteous glow of melodic morning Goa. And it works. Read more

Entry #7: DJ Bong – Party Like It’s 1995
Lucky #7 is a fantastic batch of tightly-mixed early Goa trance and Goa-flavored vinyl tracks, eloquently demonstrating that thinking outside the box while putting a set together can really take it to the next level. Another fine submission for the Hunab-ku Magik Mix Contest. Read more

Entry #6: The Goa Constrictor – 6 Degrees of Goa Trance
Entry number six. Six Degrees of Goa Trance. There’s some sort of connection here, and Adam’s solidly-mixed, long-running journey exploring the cross pollination that often plagued the artists of the Goa trance world illustrates this connection beautifully. Read more

Entry #5: Eudaimonia – Beyond Good and Evil : A Goa Trance Mix
The fifth entry in the Hunab-ku Magik Mix Contest is a one-way ticket on the Crazy Train. An acid-drenched, 303-laden psychedelic ripper of a mix that’ll have you going off the rails in no time. Read more
