DJ Draeke – VENI, VIDI…VIXI

by goatranch

Welcome to the fifth installment of the Goat Ranch Monthly mix series and the first of 2014! Broadcast on DI.fm’s Goa/Psy channel every 3rd Friday of the month, this edition aired on 17 January 2014.

DAT Records label owner/operator extraordinaire DJ Draeke has put together something special for this episode: a mix full of very rare old school Goa trance and proto-Goa, with one of the tracks even dating back as far as 1983! It’s like a Goa trance history lesson in a mix. 🙂

The cover artwork for Draeke’s mix was provided by DJ Lara, who is not only a DJ but also an artist whose work you can find at mysillyrabbit.com. Lara also created the art that appeared on the CDs of the first Mind Rewind compilation. Thanks for the great art, Lara!

Notes
At the request of the DJ, the tracklist for this mix will be temporarily withheld to give listeners a chance to enjoy the music regardless of who composed it. Draeke feels that knowing the track names “might somehow diminish the full experience of entering the realm of consciousness without knowing who is coming up next.”

Streaming only for now, and “The tracklist will eventually be released when the time is right. So sit tight and enjoy the flight.”

Thanks for the killer mix, Draeke!

Don’t forget to tune in to the next show on 21 February 2014!

This track is lean and groovy, and has multiple vials of liquid pony energy in it. Thanks for the good time. Rakkautta!

wow really great mix! i would love to have a tracklist, but especially that etnica (pleiadians?) track – i know i know it but i have no idea what its name is 🙂

i love how it progresses from the older “protogoa” tracks until it explodes… a lesson in psychedelic history if you will 😉

@Goaren and all, thanks so much for the feedback ;)!
The etnica track is of course Mental Puzzle, released on the 2CD Etnica – Live in Athens 1996.
Tracklist was allowed to be shared, will be shared soon on this very post!
